Annual Islamic Cultural Competition 2018
Portsmouth Jami Mosque has successfully hosted the Annual Islamic Cultural Competition 2018 on Sunday, 30 September. Hundreds of people from Portsmouth and surrounding areas attended the event. The event, anchored and supervised by the Head Imam Sheikh Muhammad Muhi Uddin Azhari, was hugely inspirational and engaging, most of all, it was fun.
The secretary Mr. Ammer Ahmed welcomed the participants and the event was rounded up with the words of the president, Mr. Foyzur Rahman.
The competitors of different age groups including kids as young as 4 years old fought fiercely in Quran Recitation, Azan and Short Talk, and were cheered and encouraged by their family members.
The audience patiently and enthusiastically watched and enjoyed the performance of their loved ones.
At the end, everyone returned home smiling, feeling joyous as every participant in the competition received a prize for their performance.
This year the event was partially sponsored by BC & A, and Umami Street Food gave away gift vouchers worth £10 to every participant.
The 1st, 2nd and the 3rd winners from each age group and category received special prize and Umami gift vouchers worth £20.
The prize giving ceremony was attended by Sheikh Fazle Abbas Datoo, Imam of Al Mahdi Centre, Mr. Steve Rolls, Manager at Portsmouth Mediation Service, Mr. Mosud Ahmed, owner of M A Food and other elders of the mosque and Muslim community.
